Ethereum Developers Fix Critical Glamsterdam Bug That Threatened Staking Deposits

Share

Ethereum developers fixed a Glamsterdam upgrade flaw that could have allowed block builders to withdraw ETH intended for validators. The issue could arise when a public key was used by both a builder and a staking protocol, with the previous rules assigning pending deposits to the builder’s account. The fix, initially rejected on October 19, was merged on October 26 after additional testing: deposits are now classified according to their withdrawal credentials rather than their public key alone. No funds have reportedly been lost, but activation on the Hoodi testnet remains postponed and no mainnet deployment date has yet been confirmed.
