This measure concerns dormant bank accounts, savings accounts, and life insurance contracts, but funds remain recoverable by their owners or heirs with interest. In contrast, self-custodied bitcoins are beyond the reach of both the taxman and the owner themselves if access keys are lost. Cryptos deposited on platforms are not subject to transfer to the Caisse des dépôts and therefore escape this levy.
