EnQuest is interested in buying BP’s North Sea assets, CEO tells CNBC

British energy exploration and production company EnQuest has confirmed its interest in acquiring BP’s North Sea assets in the U.K. sector. CEO Amjad Bseisu told CNBC that the U.K. imports approximately half of its energy, which has pushed costs higher. BP announced on July 31 the launch of a sale process for its North Sea business, where the group has operated for about 60 years with a portfolio of five production hubs employing around 1,100 people. EnQuest also reported strong first-half results, with adjusted pre-tax profit of $54.6 million and revenues of $529.9 million, while production increased by 9%.
