Google plans to invest at least 13 billion euros in Finland over 2027 and 2028, nearly three times the total amount it has invested in the country since 2009. This envelope will fund new AI-focused data centers, a nuclear power supply agreement, and grid reinforcement managed by Fingrid. Finland, whose electricity mix relies on nuclear for about 40 % thanks to the Olkiluoto 3 EPR (1,600 MW), offers flexible and affordable power that Google is securing through long-term contracts. The Finnish grid operator is overwhelmed with connection requests, and sites formerly used by bitcoin miners are now attracting cloud giants. The next bitcoin halving, expected in spring 2028, will occur precisely when Google’s first Finnish campuses come online.
