Scammers tricked DYORSWAP, a multi-chain decentralized exchange, into integrating a spoofed version of the upcoming GIWA blockchain. Over one thousand users eager to be early to the new chain sent a total of 767 ETH (approximately $2 million) to the fake bridge contract. The funds were later withdrawn by the scammers and funneled into Tornado Cash. DYORSWAP admitted that the so-called GIWA Mainnet was in fact a fake chain set up by scammers, who had used the same chain ID (9134) as the legitimate GIWA network. The decentralized exchange offered a 40% refund to users who had bridged less than 5 ETH and claims to have distributed over 200 ETH in compensation.
