The Dutch central bank (DNB) transferred approximately 86 tons of gold from the United States and Canada to the United Kingdom between March and August, as part of enhanced crisis preparedness amid growing geopolitical tensions. The gold bars are now held at the Bank of England, recognized as offering the best liquidity for gold on international markets. Gold prices have surged nearly 25% over the past twelve months, currently trading at $4,429.61 per ounce. This transfer follows a similar operation by the Bank of France, which moved 129 tons of gold from the New York Federal Reserve between July 2025 and January 2026. Following this redistribution, the geographical spread of Dutch gold reserves is now more balanced, with London holding 32.1%, Zeist in the Netherlands holding 30.8%, and New York and Ottawa each holding 18.5%.
