The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation plans to commercially launch its Tokenization Service in October 2026, with detailed announcements expected in mid-October. More than 30 firms, including BlackRock and JPMorgan, tested various institutional workflows on Canton Network and Hyperledger Besu in July. The tokens will retain the same legal rights and investor protections as the underlying book-entry securities, with DTC remaining the official record keeper. The model, authorized by the SEC under a three-year pilot, could improve liquidity and lower transaction costs, but the lack of interoperability between the two networks could fragment pools of liquidity.
