Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq open higher as Treasury yields fall and oil prices retreat

All three major US equity indices opened higher on Monday, with the Dow climbing roughly 0.4% ahead of the opening bell. The rally was fueled by declining Treasury yields, with the 10-year yield slipping to around 4.70%, and falling oil prices, which dropped more than 3% to approximately $82.45 per barrel. The US Treasury Department announced plans to increase buybacks of longer-dated bonds, potentially exceeding $4 billion, against a backdrop of more than $40 trillion in total government debt. Nvidia’s upcoming earnings report has become a focal point for market sentiment, especially after the Nasdaq showed vulnerability by dropping nearly 0.8% on Friday while the Dow managed to stay positive.
