DOJ To Investigate Binance Again. Could More Fines Follow?

The US Department of Justice is set to investigate Binance again, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. In 2023, Binance agreed to pay $4.3 billion to settle a US criminal case. Less than three years after this settlement, federal prosecutors are examining whether the company violated the terms of that agreement. Tysen Duva, head of the DOJ’s Criminal Division, confirmed to Bloomberg on October 9 that this review was underway. This new investigation could result in additional fines for the platform.
