Deutsche Bank, Germany’s largest bank with 1.7 trillion dollars in assets, announced the upcoming launch of a cryptocurrency custody service for European institutional and corporate clients. The offering will start in Germany pending regulatory approvals and will support Bitcoin, Ether, and several stablecoins including USDC, EURC, and EURAU. The bank will manage wallets and private keys for its clients, allowing them to hold and transfer crypto assets without building their own infrastructure. This project, developed in partnership with Taurus and Bitpanda, is part of a broader movement in Europe, as the MiCA regulation has clarified the regulatory framework and encouraged major continental banks to accelerate. However, growth in this business activity is expected to take years before becoming monetizable.
