Decibel Trade switches on Aptos’ Encrypted Mempool to shield trader orders

Share

Decibel Trade, an onchain exchange incubated by Aptos Labs, activated Aptos’ Encrypted Mempool on October 21, 2026. The feature allows traders to encrypt their order details directly from their device before transactions are published to the blockchain, protecting them against frontrunning and sandwich attacks. The implementation is based on governance proposal AIP-144, approved around October 12, 2026, which introduced batch threshold encryption at the consensus level. Tests showed an additional latency of approximately 20-27 milliseconds, representing about 14% overhead, with throughput exceeding 1,000 transactions per second. Since its February 2026 mainnet launch, Decibel Trade has processed over $8.2 billion in cumulative trading volume, including $1.3 billion in the past 30 days alone.
