A cyberattack disrupted refrigeration systems on Monday in dozens of supermarkets across Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Ireland, Estonia and other European countries. At ICA, freezer temperatures reached 50 °C, while five Colruyt stores, six Coop stores, 15 Carrefour stores in Belgium and 13 SuperValu stores reported problems. The incident follows an attack in France that compromised cooling units in hundreds of supermarkets, causing fires and food losses. Swedish authorities are investigating several incidents and have warned that numerous operational technology devices remain insufficiently protected. No ransom demand has been reported and no group has claimed responsibility, but the destructive nature of the attacks has raised concerns about possible sabotage operations.
