Crypto: New York Seeks $1.37 Billion from Fugitive NovaTech Founders

New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking nearly $1.37 billion from NovaTech founders Cynthia and Eddy Petion, who raised $1.16 billion from investors. Only $25.99 million was transferred to trading platform B2Broker, where trading operations lost $18.19 million, while at least $134.5 million went to wallets owned by the couple. The demand includes approximately $1.13 billion in restitution of illicit profits and $232.5 million in prejudgment interest. Four promoters have agreed to return nearly $6 million to victims and have been permanently banned from the financial sectors concerned. However, repayment of the roughly 11,000 recorded victims remains dependent on locating and recovering the assets.
