The Crypto Fear and Greed Index hit 81 (extreme greed), its highest reading since late 2024, on Coinmarketcap. The index jumped from 36 (fear) a month ago and 41 (neutral) a week ago to 81, a 45-point climb in 30 days. The year’s low was 5 on February 5, in extreme fear. Bitcoin’s rally above $70,000 triggered liquidations exceeding $4 billion over two to three days, while Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs together attracted roughly $2.3 billion in inflows. This move follows the U.S. Treasury’s decision to double its long-bond buybacks to $4 billion per operation starting September 9, weakening the dollar and nudging investors toward bitcoin as an inflation hedge.
