The OnlyMarms (ONLYMARMS) token, launched on Solana, has raised over $120,000 to support a 64-year study on yellow-bellied marmots near Crested Butte, Colorado. The research, started in 1962 by Kenneth Armitage and maintained by UCLA since 2001, was threatened by a 46% drop in National Science Foundation funding, with roughly $1 billion frozen under the Trump administration. Pump.fun’s creator fee model directs up to 0.95% of each trade directly to the lab, but the hype has already cooled: the token fell 61% from its August 4 peak. Scientists still need to raise $180,000 to meet their annual budget of $75,000 to $100,000, and acknowledge this approach may not work twice.
