Nine blockchain organizations have launched the Quantum Alliance, an open standards body tasked with defining what it means to be quantum-ready and establishing common methods for testing and verifying quantum-resistance claims. The group warns that elliptic-curve signatures leave roughly 6.04 million BTC, about 30 percent of supply, quantum-exposed, with forecasts pointing toward the late 2020s. Modeled on the IETF, the Alliance will operate through four working groups covering blockchain migration, post-quantum zero-knowledge systems, wallet security, and cross-chain compatibility. The issue is drawing industry-wide attention: Coinbase recently urged Bitcoin developers to begin the quantum migration, while a consortium backed by BlackRock, Strategy, and Coinbase has committed $15 million to the problem.
