Crypto: Family Kidnapped and Tied Up in Vendin-le-Vieil, 4 Suspects on the Run

On the night of Saturday September 10 to Sunday September 20, four individuals broke into a home in Vendin-le-Vieil, near Bethune, and tied up a four-member family with tape. The father, a man in his forties working in the cryptocurrency sector, was beaten and forced to transfer approximately 40,000 euros in cryptocurrencies before the assailants fled. The four suspects remain at large and the investigation points to a targeted cryptocurrency attack. France is the most affected country in the world by wrench attacks with 30 cases recorded in mid-2026, compared to 19 for the entire year of 2025.
