CoinEx, a cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2017, will cease operations on Dec. 22, 2026, exactly nine years after its launch. Founder and CEO Haipo Yang said he rejected a sale to give the platform a « clean ending, » citing increasing security and regulatory compliance risks. The native CET token will be repurchased at its original listing price of 0.005 USDT with no volume cap, and the exchange claims its reserve ratio exceeds 100%. The closure follows BitMEX and BitMart shutting down earlier this year and comes months after TRM Labs alleged that over $3.8 billion flowed between CoinEx and sanctioned Iranian platforms.
