Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, reaffirms his confidence in the future of cryptocurrencies in the United States despite the setback of the Clarity Act failing in the Senate with only 49 votes out of the required 60. The dispute with the SEC ended with a 125 million dollar fine, representing approximately 6% of the nearly 2 billion initially sought by the regulator. Ripple has spent over 4 billion dollars on acquisitions since 2023, including Hidden Road (1.25 billion), GTreasury (1 billion), Rail (200 million), and Palisade. The company closed a 500 million dollar funding round at a 40 billion dollar valuation, and its RLUSD stablecoin has reached 1 billion dollars in circulation. Ripple has also filed for a federal banking charter with the OCC and is seeking a master account at the Federal Reserve through its subsidiary Standard Custody.
