Louka Berman, a Montrealer who became popular after taking in an injured raccoon, says he received more than $110,000 through transaction fees on the Pepper memecoin. Launched on Pump.fun by a trader using the pseudonym “Hiruzen,” the token’s market capitalization fell from about $2.8 million in mid-October to roughly $240,000 on October 28, a decline of 91%. Berman used around $20,000 for personal expenses and debt repayment, and plans to dedicate the rest to an animal sanctuary estimated to cost $400,000. Quebec’s Autorité des marchés financiers has warned that Pump.fun is not registered and cannot solicit investors in the province. A GoFundMe fundraiser had also raised nearly $3,500 by October 28.
