AI infrastructure company Crusoe is abandoning its $1.25 billion order for 29 Superpower turbines with Boom Supersonic, representing 1.21 GW of capacity for AI data centers. Boom Supersonic, known for its Overture supersonic airliner, developed the turbine by deriving 80% of its components from the Symphony engine. Crusoe, which raised $3.9 billion in September 2026 at a $30.9 billion valuation, is now prioritizing modular data centers over large-scale fixed infrastructure projects. The contract has not been formally terminated but Crusoe’s CEO has publicly stated the product is not part of their near-term plans.
