Corruption and Cryptocurrencies: President of the Polish Olympic Committee Arrested in Zondacrypto Scandal

The president of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOL), Radosław Piesiewicz, was arrested on August 27 in Warsaw on suspicion of corruption related to sponsorship contracts with the crypto platform Zondacrypto. He allegedly received a watch worth 180,000 zlotys (approximately 40,000 euros) along with trips to Monaco and various other benefits from the platform’s CEO, Przemysław Kral. Zondacrypto experienced a catastrophic collapse with a 99.7% drop in its bitcoin reserves, leaving over 3,600 victims and estimated losses of 96 million dollars. The platform’s original founder, Sylwester Suszek, has himself been missing since March 2022 under unexplained circumstances.
