Commonwealth Fusion Systems raises $4B to advance fusion energy

MIT spinoff Commonwealth Fusion Systems has raised a total of $4 billion, representing approximately 30% of all capital ever invested in the private fusion industry. The latest tranche includes a $1 billion equity round, the largest single funding event for any fusion company. The SPARC demonstration reactor, using high-temperature superconducting magnets in a tokamak design and approximately 80% complete, targets net energy gain by 2027. The commercial ARC reactor, planned for Virginia with a capacity of 400 MW, is expected to connect to the grid in the early 2030s.
