Coinbase has announced a partnership with Thunes, a global payment infrastructure provider, to expand stablecoin payments to over 140 countries. This collaboration combines Coinbase’s stablecoin infrastructure with Thunes’ worldwide network, which supports more than 90 currencies and connects over 12 billion mobile wallets, stablecoin wallets, and bank accounts. Customers will gain access to local clearing systems and alternative payment methods, including in regions with limited banking infrastructure. The partnership will support international remittances, corporate supplier payments, and payouts to gig economy workers. Financial terms and the timeline for full integration have not been disclosed.
