Cloudflare has released an open-source version of Cloudflare OS, a platform that gives every employee an agent, a workspace, and tools to build applications. The platform combines three components: an agent workspace, a security and governance framework using Gatekeepers that intercept agent requests before resource access, and a layer for personal applications running as Cloudflare Workers. The system enhances security by restricting resource access instead of distributing broad API keys, logging every action and checking permissions before any access. Some skepticism remains: despite the open-source label, infrastructure and agents remain under Cloudflare’s control.
