« Spider-Man: Brand New Day » became the fourth film to surpass $1 billion in 2026, joining « The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, » « Michael, » and « Toy Story 5 » in the exclusive club. The domestic box office is on track to exceed $10 billion for the first time in seven years, with year-to-date earnings at $6.2 billion. Gen Z now accounts for 40% of North American movie audiences and represented 49% of « Spider-Man »‘s opening-day attendance. Over 50% of the billion-dollar films’ box office revenue comes from international markets. Premium large format tickets (Imax, Dolby Cinema) now represent 16% of domestic ticket sales, up from 13.8% in 2023, with standard tickets averaging $13.50, compared to just over $9 in 2019.
