CLARITY Act delay gives Asian financial hubs an opening: First Digital CEO

The US Senate has delayed indefinitely the vote on the CLARITY Act, its cryptocurrency market structure legislation, with the delay attributed to Democratic opposition. Vincent Chok, founder and CEO of First Digital (issuer of the FDUSD stablecoin), believes this delay advantages Hong Kong and Singapore in their quest to become digital asset hubs, giving them time to demonstrate that clear regulatory frameworks can coexist with innovation. Maylea Ma, counsel at decentralized exchange platform 1inch, warns of a return to regulation by enforcement if Congress fails to pass the legislation, leaving market participants dependent on agency-by-agency interpretations. Wellington-Altus described the delay as a political « fold » that risks pushing innovation offshore.
