Circle announced on October 12, 2026, during the NYSE/ICE House Podcast, its ambition to make USDC the default currency for the artificial intelligence agent economy. Chief Commercial Officer Kash Razzaghi highlighted three decisive advantages for machines: programmability, near-zero transaction costs, and round-the-clock availability. According to the company’s data, 165 million transactions involving approximately 80,000 agents had been recorded by mid-October 2026, with USDC accounting for 99 to 99.8 percent of transaction value on the x402 protocol. Circle also launched its Agent Stack in May 2026, a suite of tools including agent wallets, a marketplace, a command-line interface, and nanopayments enabling transactions as small as $0.000001.
