The aircraft made stops in Latvia departing from Andrews Air Force Base near Washington before landing at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. The purpose of the meetings remained unclear, with the Kremlin stating that no meetings with US officials were planned this week. The visit comes amid heightened concerns about Russian sabotage operations in Europe. US efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine are currently led by special envoy Steve Witkoff.
