Chinese AI startup StepFun, backed by Tencent, launched the STEPX Neo on Oct. 13, a phone priced at 3,999 yuan (about $560) featuring an AI agent named Amoo built directly into its operating system. The device runs Step AOS 1.0, an OS designed from scratch for autonomous task execution, unlike iOS or Android where AI functions as an add-on. Nearly 100 partners including Alipay, Tencent, Ctrip, Didi, and Meituan have signed on with StepFun. The price includes 12 months of access to 100 billion tokens per month through the STEPX Token Plan.
