The US Department of Commerce has become the first federal agency to publish official economic statistics on public blockchains via Chainlink. The partnership, confirmed on August 28, 2025, transmits six economic indicators from the Bureau of Economic Analysis to ten blockchain networks, including real GDP, the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index, and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers. Expansion to additional networks is planned, with parallel initiatives on Bitcoin and Solana in collaboration with Coinbase and Kraken. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has positioned this initiative within a broader strategy to leverage blockchain technology for data transparency.
