Chainalysis attributed the $387 million Bitget exchange hack to North Korea-linked actors, pushing Pyongyang’s 2026 crypto theft total past $1 billion. Within three hours, the funds moved across 23 transfers to Ethereum (49.7%), XRP (40.8%), Zcash (7.6%) and Tron (1.8%). The firm used in-house AI to compress what would have been over 20 hours of manual work into under 10 minutes. This attribution echoes earlier assessments from Bitget’s CEO and blockchain analytics firm Elliptic, both pointing to North Korean involvement. Circle and Tether froze approximately $318,000 in stablecoins connected to the hack.
