Chainalysis has filed a lawsuit in the US Court of Federal Claims challenging the award of a $94.66 million contract by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to TRM Labs. The blockchain analytics company accuses federal agencies of bypassing the standard competitive bidding process and favoring its rival in a decision it describes as « arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable ». The one-year contract, running from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, is intended to provide analytical support services to the Department of Homeland Security. TRM Labs has already intervened in the case to defend the government’s decision, with oral arguments scheduled for September 2. This dispute highlights the growing importance of blockchain analytics tools for US authorities in combating cryptocurrency-linked crime.
