Cardano has days to close two huge voting gaps before governance hits a 3-seat bottleneck

Share

Cardano’s vote to seat four elected Constitutional Committee members enters its final week before the September 1 expiry. DRep support stands at 41.7%, falling 25.3 percentage points short of the 67% threshold, while SPO support reaches 12.0%, missing the 51% requirement by 39.0 percentage points. If the vote fails, the committee’s active membership drops from seven to three members, creating a governance bottleneck under CIP-1694, which requires a minimum of five members for ratification. An undersized committee would be unable to ratify committee-required governance actions, though Cardano’s network operations would continue uninterrupted. Intersect has indicated that alternative paths to restore governance, including Info Actions and Update Committee actions, remain available despite the potential continuity break.
