Bloom Energy unveiled an 800V DC-native power architecture for AI data centers, using solid oxide fuel cells that can run on natural gas, biogas, or hydrogen. For a 1 GW AI data center, the company estimates savings of 3.6 billion dollars on non-compute capital expenditures, a 27% reduction, and total cost of ownership savings of 5.5 billion dollars over five years, approximately 9% compared to conventional AC-based systems. NVIDIA plans to adopt the 800V DC standard for its next-generation Rubin Ultra and Kyber rack architectures starting in 2027. Nebius has already signed a contract with Bloom Energy for 328 megawatts of power supply, while Oracle, Equinix, and Brookfield are among the company’s existing partners.
