An analysis published by Bitwise in May 2026 reveals that five major US wealth platforms actively restrict access to Bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs). Eighteen other platforms allow only unsolicited trades, meaning advisors cannot recommend these products and will only execute them if the client requests them. Only certain platforms, including Morgan Stanley, Fidelity, Charles Schwab, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Vanguard, permit advisors to actively recommend Bitcoin ETPs. Platforms restricting access include HSBC, T. Rowe Price, and American Express. The approval of US spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024 opened regulated access to Bitcoin, but distribution remains uneven across institutions.
