BitGo, one of the most established institutional custody providers in the crypto sector, deployed on July 22 a suite of quantum-risk management tools integrated within its existing multi-signature framework. This solution includes four security controls, among them a Quantum Risk Score enabling real-time measurement of holdings exposure through already-revealed public keys, as well as a guided workflow facilitating the transfer of funds to fresh addresses. The goal is to reduce the attack surface by ensuring that public keys have never been exposed on the blockchain, a principle summarized by CEO Mike Belshe: « The safest key is one whose public key has never been revealed on-chain. » According to Glassnode data, approximately 6 to 7 million BTC, representing nearly 30% of Bitcoin’s total supply, currently have exposed public keys on the blockchain, making them potentially vulnerable to a quantum computer attack.
