Bitget has detailed the security incident that occurred on Sept. 24, during which an attacker exploited a vulnerability in a third-party security product to obtain high-level internal credentials. Approximately $388 million in assets were transferred during this sophisticated targeted attack. The exchange’s private keys and cold wallets were not compromised. Bitget suspended withdrawals, detected the incident within seven minutes and gradually restored services, with BTC withdrawals resuming on Sept. 28. Losses will be covered by the $464 million User Protection Fund.
