Bitcoin rebounded to $82,000 on Friday, recovering from a low of $80,300 after Donald Trump pledged on Truth Social that the United States would not attack Iran before the November 3 midterm elections. This reversal triggered $1.19 billion in leveraged position liquidations in 24 hours, including $298 million in bitcoin and $356 million in ether positions. On October 10, 2025, bitcoin had crashed from $122,000 to $105,000 in under an hour, with $19 billion in liquidations, sixteen times Thursday’s tally. Trump’s promise extends to November 3, but the Pentagon received orders on October 7 to prepare for a resumption of hostilities.
