Bitcoin Rally Is Outrunning the Rest of the Market: Here’s Why

Share

Bitcoin has risen roughly 24% over the past week to near $79,000, its best rally since 2023, while the rest of the crypto market failed to keep pace. Bitcoin dominance has climbed to around 61% of the total crypto market, with the CoinMarketCap Altcoin Season Index holding at 46, well below the 75 threshold that would define an actual altcoin season. This dynamic was driven by the U.S. Treasury announcing it would double its long-bond buybacks and by Donald Trump meeting crypto executives at the White House, triggering over $4 billion in short liquidations within two to three days. A sustained break above $80,000 could open a path toward $82,000 to $87,000, with $75,000 to $76,000 acting as the main pullback zone.
