Nine publicly traded mining companies have collectively invested over $5 billion in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure, generating $341 million in combined revenue during the first half of 2026. AI and HPC contracts signed by these companies now exceed $70 billion over periods spanning 12 to 20 years. Core Scientific and TeraWulf now earn more from their AI operations than from Bitcoin mining itself. By the end of 2026, some miners are projected to derive up to 70% of their total revenue from AI. Meanwhile, Bitcoin mining hashrate among public operators has dropped between 13% and 21%.
