Avalanche founder Emin Gün Sirer has warned that AI could uncover previously unknown security flaws in the XRP Ledger. According to him, the crypto industry focuses too much on hypothetical cryptographic breakthroughs while the real threat lies in existing software vulnerabilities that more advanced AI models could detect and exploit. He specifically pointed to XRP Ledger’s code as potentially harboring zero-day bugs that are hard for humans to spot but easy for AI to identify. The protocol developers deployed an emergency update on September 25 without immediately releasing the source code of the security fixes. This warning comes amid a broader debate in the crypto community, with Vitalik Buterin also cautioning that AI could attack cryptography within two years.
