Bitcoin Core adopted a change to its security policy on Thursday to better respond to vulnerabilities that AI can identify rapidly. Developer Antoine Poinsot proposed the update after finding that language models can discover flaws previously considered easy to find, even though patches for them are released only with the next major version, approximately every six months. The new procedure calls for reporting these vulnerabilities as soon as they are detected, preparing a patch for all maintained versions, and releasing it without waiting for the next major version. A security advisory will then be issued when the corrected versions become available, without disclosing all technical details.
