Binance uncovered additional breach points in the roughly $6 billion hack after initially suspecting a compromised employee laptop. According to TRM Labs, the attackers transferred funds from Binance wallets across 10 blockchains, including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Tron, Solana, and the XRP Ledger, and prepared the operation at least 36 hours in advance. ZachXBT and MistTrack linked the stolen funds to earlier attacks against Bitget and Phemex, while TRM Labs attributed the operation to the North Korean group TraderTraitor.
