Binance dominated spot trading volume in August, posting up to $243 billion out of a total of $510.4 billion across 14 major centralized exchanges, a 19% increase from July. This rebound followed a particularly weak July, when volume had plunged 21.7% to roughly $429 billion. The main catalyst was bitcoin’s 30% price surge, which boosted trading activity with daily peaks approaching $37 billion. Binance commanded approximately 45-46% of spot volume on the 14 tracked exchanges, but its share drops to around 28% on a wider sample of centralized exchanges totaling $811 billion. Despite the rebound, volumes remained below levels achieved in earlier periods.
