Binance says $6.34 billion hack recovery came entirely from its own balance sheet

Binance says it used $6.34 billion from its corporate treasury to replenish users’ funds affected by a major security breach, without borrowing, selling assets or raising outside money. The funds came from the Secure Asset Fund for Users, part of the futures insurance fund and the company’s own reserves. As of November 1, 2026, approximately 90% of the hack’s financial impact had been replenished, while ten assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Solana, USDT and USDC, were fully backed by reserves. For assets that remain insufficiently covered, Binance has committed to continuing its purchases on the open market and through over-the-counter desks, without setting a firm deadline. The exchange also published a new Proof of Reserves snapshot, with full zero-knowledge proofs scheduled for November 3, 2026.
