Big XRP Imbalance: Why 72% ETF Inflow Spike Fails to Lift Price

Share

XRP spot ETFs saw a 72% spike in daily net inflows between Aug. 24 and Aug. 25, rising from $13.88 million to $23.87 million, with total assets under management reaching an all-time high of $1.46 billion. Despite these record figures, XRP price corrected to $1.3783, down about 4% in 24 hours. This paradox demonstrates that ETFs are not the driver of XRP’s price movements; it is large holders, or whales, that accumulated nearly 500 million tokens just before the price surge, breaking a 608-day downtrend during which the token lost 54.47% of its value. Massive profit-taking by retail investors in the spot market now far outweighs ETF volumes, leaving these funds with only the role of a silent market stabilizer.
