Standard Chartered has launched institutional custody support for Ripple’s native stablecoin RLUSD through its DIFC Branch in Dubai. The bank is working with Ripple and LMAX Group to integrate RLUSD as eligible collateral for selected LMAX institutional trading products and services. This integration would allow the value of the stablecoin held in custody to be reflected at the trading venue without requiring the underlying assets to be transferred, reducing transfer-related operational risk and improving institutional capital efficiency. The planned collateral integration is not yet live and remains subject to final documentation, testing, regulatory requirements and internal approvals. RLUSD’s market cap recently surpassed $2.5 billion, less than two years after its debut.
