Banking consortium tests MPC with lattice-based cryptography on NEAR Protocol’s quantum-resistant testnet

Share

A multi-regional consortium including Bison Bank, DK Bank, Abu Dhabi Global Market and Malta Financial Services Authority launched on August 23, 2026 a pilot on NEAR Protocol’s quantum-resistant testnet. The test focuses on a non-custodial 2-of-2 MPC protocol using the NIST FIPS 204 ML-DSA-65 lattice-based digital signature standard. Safeheron is developing both the MPC protocol and the ML-DSA-65 signing application, with a commitment to open-source the code and publish a whitepaper on pilot findings. The goal is to generate real operational data on wallet generation latency, signing performance and cross-jurisdictional workflows before quantum threats materialize. The data produced should serve as reference for regulators across multiple markets when setting their own standards.
