Private equity firm Bain Capital is in talks to acquire Edged, a data center developer owned by Koch Inc., in a deal potentially exceeding $15 billion. Founded in 2024 by Koch and entrepreneur Jakob Carnemark, Edged stands out with its waterless cooling technology and a power usage effectiveness (PUE) rating of approximately 1.15, placing it among the most efficient operators in the industry. The company operates over 388 megawatts of capacity across five US metro areas, with an Atlanta campus alone delivering 169 megawatts. Goldman Sachs is advising Koch Real Estate Investments on the sale, marking Bain Capital’s first major move into US data center investments.
